Set against transcendent love, unrelenting hatred and loyalties to friends and family, Turquoise is the story of an enduring and passionate love affair between Yasmin and Renan, which spans two decades, two marriages and three continents.
Yasmin and her Armenian classmate Ani were oblivious to ethnic differences during their school years in Istanbul. Years later they run into each other, and Ani introduces Renan, her husband, to Yasmin. At that moment under the blazing autumn skies, as Yasmin locks eyes with Renan, she knows that she has come upon her destiny.
But political tensions in their land soon force Renan, her secret love, and his family to immigrate to Sydney. A few years on, Yasmin’s diplomat father is appointed as the Turkish Consul General to Los Angeles where the family faces a devastating tragedy that will impact their lives in ways unfathomable. She is now forced to make a choice between passion that defines her and reason that guides her.
When so much is stacked against Yasmin and Renan, how can love possibly triumph?
Turquoise A Love Story eBook Ayshe TalayOngan
I found this poetically written. In my opinion, it reads more like a diary than a story to me, but I enjoyed the story greatly. You get the feeling that the heroine in this story is stumbling around until the door to being with her true love opens. Like all the events in the story are simply filler until they can be together unencumbered. What could on the surface seem stark and lacking in details becomes a rich journey into the psyche of a woman who draws out the lyric by Alanis Morrisett in her song "Ironic" "It's like meeting the man of your dreams, then meeting his beautiful wife"I enjoyed exploring her inner dialog. Through her experiences we question morality, purpose, history and ethnicity. We also look at gender roles, issues of fertility and what it means to be a parent. There were some unanswered questions for me in the end, but all in all, I found this a satisfying read, and I sincerely recommend it.

Turquoise A Love Story eBook Ayshe TalayOngan Reviews
A truly heart warming story of true love that spans several decades. Love endures much in this story! A very real life tale!
I was hooked from page one of this novel, and kept on identifying with Yasmin and her struggles, her accomplishments and her determination. It spurs reflection into what we want in life and what we really do to reach our goals. Inspirational as it is engaging (and funny!).
Turquoise A love story
Told with liveliness, verve and passion, Turquoise is a love story of two people determined to be together, whatever life throws at them. This engulfing story is about the magical power of love, sacrifice and seperation.
I strongly recommend it and cannot wait until the next one -Emerald- is published.
This is such a thrilling book - full of honest emotion and passion. Vivid descriptions of relationships and cultural conflicts. The writer has a flare for writing fiction and is an excellent writer. Looking forward to the publication of the sequel.

The only reason I do NOT rate some books is because the books end at 97% or less and I refuse to page forward to the ratings page. This book was well written and I enjoyed it. as a former data entry clerk for over 19 years, I am seeing numerous errors in 90% of the books also, mostly spelling errors - their for there, for instance - words most people don't catch.
Interesting concept....I originally liked the main character, but it is such a slow read. It's almost should have been broken down into more books rather than a daily, yearly account of the main characters life. I gave up half way through and started reading something that moves. However, at of curiosity I pick up occasionally and read a few pages to see if it is ever going anywhere.
Usually before I download a book to read, I'll read all the reviews and pretty much know if I'll like the book or not before reading. Because I really hate NOT finishing a book. Weeelll...with this book, I just could NOT finish it. I got to like 63% and I just could not force myself to read any more.
It was hard to feel a connection to the other people in the book. The author told how she went to work and came home. Sam was home with them...hubby was home or away..not giving any details to anything but her love for a Married man. Now when it came to that, she would go on and on and on about it. For a book to capture me, I need to feel that connection with everyone. There just wasn't any way to have that kind of connection when most times, each other person in the book was talked about with just one sentence. A good bit of the book was about her work...but again, she never really talked about her work except she was opening this center or that center..but never really going into details about her days at work. Anyhow, this could have been so much more...but as it stands, just was not for me.
I did give it 3 stars just because it had the means to be a great story, but just didn't quite make it, in my mind.
